Orthotic Support Services
Orthotic support services is a term we use to refer to services that don't directly fall into the categories of "orthotics" or "prosthetics" and yet form an important part of patient care. Whether it's to prevent injuries, correct issues, or to recover from injuries or surgeries. These may also include services that improve quality of life for patients outside of the hospital or doctor's office such as optimising the home for people with special needs.
Custom-made Support Services

Although we can manufacture any number of orthotic assistance devices onsite, one area where we particularly excel is corrective shoes. We have a full-time Surgical Shoe-Maker on staff which means that we can measure, design and make shoes for clients with all kinds of problems from birth deformities to deformities caused by accidents and circumstances. Some birth deformities can be corrected by the use of well-fitted surgical corrective shoes from an early age. It can be incredibly difficult for people with foot, ankle and toe deformities to find shoes that are comfortable that fit and can accommodate their unique circumstances. If left unattended such problems can lead to much bigger problems down the line. For example high arches are easy to correct with custom made and fitted shoe inserts but if left unattended can cause joint weakness in the ankle that can make the patient unnecessarily susceptible to constant ankle breaks and sprains. Whether you need shoe inserts made to measure or a complete medical shoe designed and manufactured to address your problem, we have the resources and the expertise to assist.
Off-The-Shelf Support Options

Off-the-shelf support options such as compression stockings and wrist, ankle and knee braces are freely available at retail stores. Although these are usually well-made the big problem is that they're not fitted by an expert and the average person doesn't know what to look for when selecting a brace or stocking. We also stock a variety of off-the-shelf options, however the primary advantage for the client in buying such a device from us is that we can help them select an option suited for their requirements thereby making it far more likely that the device will successfully address the issue it's being bought for. One often hears it said that someone bought a wrist brace at "XYZ Retailer" and it was rubbish and didn't fix the issue. 9 times out of 10 this is not the fault of the brace but rather that the incorrect brace was bought to address the issue. Orthotic supports can be expensive, even when they're not custom made and it is a lot of money to waste on a device that cannot be returned to the retailer once it's been used. It makes sense to consult a professional and get it right the first time.
Orthotic Home Optimisation - Interior Design

It can sometimes become important for a disabled patient that their homes are adapted in such a way to maximise their comfort and independence. This may include installation of wheelchair ramps, strategically placed handles and railings around the home, especially in bathrooms or in extreme cases can mean ceiling rails and elevator chairs. This holds true for people that have suffered serious injuries, have physical challenges from birth or sometimes the elderly just needs a little extra support to maintain their independence. To this end we offer Orthotic Home Optimisation Services - It's important not only that our clients can move comfortably around their homes but also that support devices are unobtrusive and look great.
